South America flat steel import market rangebound on lower liquidity

South American flat-rolled steel import prices were relatively stable during the week to Friday February 17, amid faltering demand and conflicting reports on freight rate trends.

Liquidity was low, with Brazil virtually out of the market ahead of Carnival festivities on February 20-22 and most clients in Chile, for example, already secured their April-shipment needs.
