High costs limiting China's push to grow DRI capacity

China's ongoing drive to expand its direct-reduced iron (DRI) capacity and support the decarbonization of its steel sector could get a boost from future growth of its domestic iron ore supply and beneficiation capabilities.

But the overall economics of domestic DRI production remain uncertain and progress has been limited so far, sources said.
