South African manganese ore volumes lost due to Transnet derailment

Tens of thousands of manganese ore volumes in South Africa have been “lost” from the market following a train derailment in the Saldanha Bay corridor, a major rail transport route used to ferry ore shipments from mine to port.

South Africa’s state transport provider Transnet notified customers of the derailment incident, which occurred on Wednesday October 25 at approximately 7.30am. “All mainline services have been suspended,” Transnet said on Wednesday....
